There is no indication of a problem in Device Manager. How this will increase the network performance? Upgrade the NIC driver on Windows 7 machine.
Not an IT pro? Hardware Ids from Device Manager properties: I first tried the driver that Dell Support recommended but it failed.

I’ll disable everything via msconfig and do a normal boot and see if the problem still occurs. I have been getting connected by using a dubious wifi card that I found in a drawer.
